Tuesday after Easter often finds us back in our old routines: worry, jobs, hustle and hurry. Where is the Resurrection in all of this? The Resurrection does not promise to relieve us from all our struggles, but to bear them differently. Easter invites us not to escape life as it is, but to live it with a deeper trust that something new is unfolding. See 1 Peter 1:3-9. “Hurry” and “worry.” They sound alike—and maybe that’s not an accident. Anne Morrow Lindbergh reflects on people who rush in and out of a room, never really there. You’ve probably seen it. Maybe you’ve done it. I know I have. Physically present, but mentally somewhere else—already on to the next thing, or stuck in the last. And then there are those rare moments—someone pauses, listens, is fully there. Even briefly, it changes everything. Jesus asks in Matthew 6:27, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” It’s a simple question, but it cuts deep. Worry pulls us into the future. Hurry drags us out of the present. And somewhere in between, we miss the life right in front of us. Maybe the invitation is this: slow down enough to actually arrive. Just for today—live this day. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. This one. Because when we are fully present, we don’t just pass through moments—we begin to live them.
